Hi all,
We are moving onto Shay Dr. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions regarding internet and cable tv service?
We are considering Uverse and Comcast. Any bad experience with either of these? We are leaning toward Uverse because of the great introductory deals, but I have heard stories of poor reception and choppy service. We will be getting HD service.
We are not considering DirecTV because of a previous bad experience – installers drilled holes in an attic and created leaks and thousands of dollars worth of damage.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

AT&T was at my house today. They have been here for many times in the last year. I told them this will be my last call. If I continue to have problems, I will have to find another service. The agent today told me that many in this neighborhood are having problems. I left both Comcast and Direct TV for various reasons. The good news is that AT&T technicians are very helpful and try very hard to deal with the problems. The person today told me that there is a problem with the lines in this neighborhood. They are working on it.
Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood. Please try to come to the Block Party on Phaeton on Sunday June 5. Looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks Sandra, its good to hear that they are proactive about fixing issues. That appears to be the feedback on AT&T Uverse all over the country… spotty service and good customer service. Its probably better to go with an alternative until they get their local problems sorted out.

We have given up with internet/TV… The lines are so bad under the street that they are not a reliable source for phone or DSL. My neighbor complained to the PUC and was told AT&T would be putting in new lines in our area. Anyone know how to follow up on this?

Agree with Ron – we’ve had Comcast (and their predecessors) the entire time we have been in the neighborhood (going on 25 years now) and they are very reliable. We seldom have problems. We have TiVo, which we are loathe to give up for the unknown issues of other DVR options) and so no experience with directTV or AT&T Uverse.

I am surprised. I have had no problems [about AT&T/Uverse] except for the video freezing that I used to get.

Welcome to the neighborhood. I have had Direct TV for many years. It is expensive but I have had minimal problems. The system occasionally goes out when the weather is really bad but Direct TV will deduct the entire day from the bill. Good luck.

We have used DirecTV for years with no problem.

We have used Comcast Cable for the past eight years and have found their service to be reliable.
